Immediately after the treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears after a day or two. If the inconvenience continues or if other reactions occur, please contact me. Apply an ice pack to the treated area, this will reduce initial swelling.
Dermal lip filler treatment swelling may last longer. It can last for about a week and the lips may look somewhat uneven during this time, therefore, the result directly after this treatment should not be seen as the final result. Avoid touching the treated area within 6 hours following the treatment. After that, light make up can be applied and the area gently washed with soap and water.
Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose any treated areas to intense heat (eg solarium or sunbathing) or extreme cold.
If you are taking aspirin or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
Since the dermal filler is absorbed, the correction effect reduces over time. Most people choose to be treated again within six months of the original treatment.

The following aftercare advice is essential to help reduce the risk of treatment complications, to improve your comfort/healing and to help achieve the best possible results from treatment.
The treated area will often be red, swollen and tender. These effects will generally subside after 48 hours but may last longer. If the area is tender you can use simple over the counter pain killers such as paracetamol. If you experience any severe pain, you must contact your practitioner straight away. You may experience bruising afterwards, this will resolve naturally but may take up to 2 weeks. Regular application of arnica cream can help.
Swelling can occasionally be severe, if this is the case you must contact your practitioner for review. Swelling can be treated with cold compress application, regular Ibuprofen (after 24 hours, if safe for you to take), antihistamines and sleeping propped up to help drainage of fluid overnight.
Contact me as soon as possible if you notice any other unwanted side effects.
